How can I use chia?
There are lots of uses for chia seeds, one of their characteristics is that they absorb liquids, and form a gel texture. here we have for you 3 you maybe didn’t know:
1. Pudding: Mix chia seeds with the liquid of your choice, leave it for 10 to 15 minutes and you will have a gelatine texture perfect for using as pudding. Some ideas to mix it with: plant-based milk(almond, cashew, coconut, we have recipes for those here, coconut yogurt, fresh juice, water. You can have that pudding with a bit of maple syrup and fruit, the options are infinite!
2. Jam: Cook 500 gr of the fruit of your choice using a natural sweetener (optional, could be dates, maple syrup). Wait for it to cool down. Pour a cup of chia seeds in a jar with the fruit you did before. Mix it until it is combined. Let it sit in the fridge overnight, and voila! You have an amazing fruit chia jam!
3. “Egg”: If you are vegan, veggie, or allergic to eggs, this is the tip for you! Make a chia pudding to replace egg in your preparations. You can use it to bake muffins, bread, or anything else. One egg = 1 tbsp of chia seeds + 3 tbsp of water. Leave it soaking for 30 min until the consistency is thick.
PRO TIP: try this chia “egg” for BREADING! Take whatever you want to bread into your chia egg mixture, then go with it through the bread crumbs, and that’s it! You have replaced eggs in bread crumbs!!
